The Green Fund's CannaCast – Episode #6: Lauren Yoshiko
From Broccoli Magazine to Forbes, Lauren Yoshiko has covered cannabis from its legal inception to its overwhelming popularity in Oregon, U.S.
Welcome to the sixth episode of The Green Fund’s CannaCast! The CannaCast features prominent figures within the #cannabis space, whether it be entrepreneurs, doctors, chefs, or CEO’s of cannabis companies, we will be speaking to the people that have made waves in the cannabis industry. And today, we’re bringing you our sixth guest, cannabis writer Lauren Yoshiko.
Lauren is a cannabis writer based in Oregon, U.S., who has written about weed for publications such as Forbes, Rolling Stone and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Willamette Week. Lauren now writes for Broccoli Magazine, a woman lead artistic publication that focuses on the innovative and creative sides of cannabis. Lauren is also the Cannabis Editor at Thrillist.
During the interview, it became clear that Lauren believes weed is a first step towards opening people minds to alternative treatments for conditions such as depression, anxiety or pain relief. Oregon is making great strides towards legalizing psilocybin for therapeutic purposes, a notion we discuss in the interview. Lauren also exerts effort in her professional life to draw together information and news directly from industry leaders to ensure knowledge about the cannabis industry is accessible and accurate. This news is represented in Lauren’s ‘Broccoli Report’, which most recently detailed the effects the Oregonian fires had on the Cannabis Industry.
Finally, Lauren and I discuss her recommendations for weed products in the U.S. that she turned to in a slump of boredom in the cannabis world. For her recommendations, a discussion on psychedelics and legalization, and the place of women in the marijuana industry, listen to this episode of Cannacast.
